Nestled in the heart of Dago vibrant attraction area, Malaga Restaurant is renowned for blending Spanish cuisine with contemporary flair. For New Year’s Eve, the restaurant transformed its space into a sophisticated jazz lounge, complete with an art-deco-inspired decor. Guests were welcomed by the smooth sounds of a live jazz band, setting the mood for an enchanting evening.
The celebration featured a course of tasteful menu curated by the restaurant’s head chef. Each dish was inspired by classic flavors with a modern twist, paired perfectly to the appetizers such as Pimenton Prawn, Rounded Crunch, Fried Kani Paper, Seaweed Fish Boat, Espinaca Kani Salad, and Coconut Curry Fish.
The highlight of the evening was the captivating performance by the jazz band, The Kanggep Kusuma & friends. Known for their innovative approach to jazz, the group wove together jazz melodies with modern improvisation, creating an electrifying atmosphere, along with an innovative drum-rhythm from Alman Naufal. Special guest vocalist Mamay Sumantri, Baskoro & Iin Indriani joined the band for a soulful rendition of jazz, leaving the audience spellbound.
Guests also had the opportunity to participate in a jazz appreciation session led by bandleader Kanggep Kusuma. This interactive segment offering insights into the jazz harmony and its fusion with moden jazz musical traditions.
As the clock struck midnight, the celebration reached its crescendo with a heartwarming experience at midnight. Everyone in the restaurant joins in singing “Auld Lang Syne” together at midnight which created a wonderful, unifying atmosphere for welcoming the 2025 new year.
