The Jazz Jam Session for vocalist and instrumentalist focused on collaborative and improvised performances. Musicians played jazz standards and took turns improvising solos. A home band guided the session, helping maintain structure and tempo. This session emphasized listening skills, musical interaction, and jazz techniques.
The Open Mic and Jazz Jam Session created an inclusive space for artistic expression, while the Jazz Jam Session provided valuable experience in live jazz performance and collaboration. Such events are highly recommended to be held regularly to support musical growth and community development.

From the first note, the atmosphere was filled with creative freedom. The improvisation-heavy jazz instrumentals, Stella by Starlight and Night and Days, began with two improvisational jazz pieces. The vocalists, starting with the first performers, took the stage with straightforward interpretations, while the musicians anchored the evening with their well-crafted harmonies and rhythmic framework. The result was a dynamic dialogue: the singers freely explored melodies while the musicians, Kanggep Kusuma on electric guitar, Alman Naufal on drums, Imam Pras on keyboards, and Aris Ardiansyah on electric bass, responded with rhythmic accompaniment, reharmonizations, and improvised interludes.
Reny Kaizan, one of the professional singers, opened the jam session with a rendition of classic Indonesian jazz songs. The opening included songs like Nurlela, Juwita Malam, Setangkai Anggrek Bulan, and Pergi untuk Kembali. The audience then took turns joining in the singing along to The Art of Jazz’s home band. Audience engagement played a crucial role. Applause often erupted mid-performance, acknowledging bold improvisational choices or seamless musical turns. The room itself became an instrument intimate, responsive, and alive to every shift in tempo or tone.
In the final session, a group from the “Bandung Blues Base” community also performed, presenting a blues group with Traditional blues oriented which are the roots of jazz music.
